These easy pampushki are extremely quick and simple to prepare and require neither special culinary skills nor expensive or exotic ingredients. Mustard oil is an excellent choice for frying and dressing them. It is an aromatic, mildly spicy vegetable oil with a high smoke point and a rich vitamin and mineral profile.
Mustard oil contains up to 60% monounsaturated fatty acids, including oleic and erucic acids, as well as up to 21% polyunsaturated fatty acids, including omega-3 and omega-6. These fatty acids are involved in lipid metabolism, help the body absorb fat-soluble vitamins, and support the skin’s natural hydrolipid balance.
In addition, mustard oil is rich in B-group vitamins, particularly B3, B4, and B6, which are important for the normal functioning of the nervous system and brain. It also contains phytosterols, chlorophyll, and glycosides — biologically active compounds known for their antiseptic and bactericidal properties.
CraftOil offers fresh, 100% natural organic mustard oil, produced on our own branded press from environmentally clean, certified mustard seeds. We produce the oil on the day your order is placed and promptly ship it throughout Ukraine and worldwide.

Ingredients
To make these lazy but incredibly delicious pampushki (4–5 servings), you will need:
- 400 g kefir, any fat content;
- 1 scant teaspoon baking soda;
- ½ teaspoon sugar;
- ½ teaspoon salt;
- 2 cups all-purpose flour;
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil, for frying;
For the dressing:
- 1 tablespoon pickled or salted garlic scapes (or other fresh herbs);
- 1 teaspoon salt;
- 150 g water;
- 1 heaping tablespoon mustard oil;
How to make lazy pampushki: step-by-step
Pour the kefir into a bowl or another sufficiently deep container. Add the baking soda, mix well, and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
Then add the salt and sugar. Mix thoroughly and gradually add the flour, stirring constantly. The dough should be moderately firm but still soft and pliable.
Roll the dough out into a layer approximately 1–1.5 cm (½–⅝ inch) thick. Cut it into any shapes you like, such as squares or diamonds.
Prick each piece with a fork in 2–3 places. Fry the pampushki over medium or low heat for approximately 6–7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden. Transfer the finished pampushki to a bowl.
To prepare the dressing, combine pickled garlic scapes, or alternatively dill, parsley, or other herbs, with salt, water, and mustard oil. Mix well and let the dressing stand for 2–3 minutes. Before serving, pour the dressing over the warm pampushki. If desired, sprinkle with additional fresh herbs.
Notes:
Mustard oil is not the only oil suitable for frying pampushki. You can also use camelina (false flax) oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, or sesame oil. These and many other flavorful vegetable oils are always available in the CraftOil catalog.
