Ingredients

For spicy orange and clove lemonade (6 servings), you will need:

  • 2.5 liters of water (still mineral water or boiled and cooled water);
  • 1 large orange;
  • 250 g of sugar (you can use slightly less);
  • 1 tablespoon of citric acid (or freshly squeezed juice of 2 lemons);
  • 8–10 clove buds;

Step-by-step preparation

Wash the orange, pour boiling water over it, and cut it into medium-sized pieces (in any shape).

Place the sugar, citric acid, and orange pieces into a blender bowl. Blend on low speed for 3–4 minutes. Then transfer the mixture into a pitcher or another suitable container, add water and cloves, stir well, and place it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Lemonade is traditionally served chilled. For individual servings, you can add ice cubes, a sprig of mint, and/or a slice of lemon to each glass.

Notes:

This drink contains only about 46 kcal per 100 grams, so it can be enjoyed even by those following a diet or carefully monitoring their nutritional intake.

Besides cloves, you can add a pinch of ground ginger to the lemonade — it will enhance the aroma and make the slightly sour flavor more pronounced.
