Chia crackers are a perfect healthy snack and a great addition to lunch or dinner. Especially when they are homemade, baked from high-quality natural ingredients without preservatives, artificial colors, or other additives. Adding chia seeds makes them not only more filling but also highly beneficial for your health.

Homemade crackers

Chia seeds are considered a true superfood. They are rich in easily digestible plant protein, dietary fiber, and omega fatty acids. In addition, they contain vitamin C, which supports the immune system, as well as vitamins A and E – powerful antioxidants that protect the body from the negative effects of free radicals.

Regular consumption of chia seeds helps lower triglyceride levels in the blood, supports heart rhythm, prevents constipation, boosts energy, and provides long-lasting satiety.

Ingredients

Step-by-step recipe for chia crackers

Sift the flour twice through a fine sieve into a deep bowl, then mix with salt. Add 5 tbsp of chia seeds and mix again. Warm the water to about 40°C (room temperature) and slowly pour it into the dry mixture. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic – without lumps or dry flour spots.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 3–4 mm thickness. Cut into circles using a cookie cutter or a glass, or simply slice into squares or diamonds.

Place the raw crackers on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or lightly greased. Sprinkle with the remaining chia seeds. Bake at 185°C for 30 minutes. Let the chia crackers cool before serving. They are delicious on their own or paired with spreads, dips, or cheese.

Tips & variations:

Add sunflower seeds, sesame, or poppy seeds for extra crunch. Replace wheat flour with almond flour for a gluten-free version – it makes the crackers more fragrant and nutritious. Fresh almond flour and a wide selection of organic seeds are available at CraftOil online store.
