Pork dishes are not only hearty and nutritious but also beneficial for the body. This type of meat is a source of high-quality protein, essential for maintaining muscle tone, as well as B vitamins that support the cardiovascular system and central nervous system. Moreover, lean pork is easier to digest than beef and contains amino acids that help the body produce its own proteins while accelerating tissue and skin recovery.

Baked pork

Fans of juicy and tender meat delicacies should definitely try pork baked with walnuts. This recipe does not require exotic ingredients or advanced cooking skills.

Adding walnut kernels or walnut crumbs enhances the aroma of the dish, gives it a pleasant crunch and significantly increases its nutritional value. Walnuts contain iodine — a mineral essential for healthy thyroid function and overall body energy metabolism. They are also rich in omega fatty acids that support the nervous system and help reduce «bad» cholesterol levels.

Walnuts for roasting pork

Ingredients

To prepare juicy and flavorful baked pork (4 servings), you will need:

  • 500 g pork loin or pork tenderloin;
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying);
  • 1 pickled cucumber;
  • 2 tbsp walnut kernels;
  • 2 garlic cloves;
  • 2 tsp salt;
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise (can be mixed half-and-half with sour cream);

Step-by-step instructions

Wash the meat, pat it dry with a kitchen towel, and make shallow cuts on 3–4 sides.

Peel the garlic cloves, rinse them, and finely chop or press them through a garlic press. Grate the pickled cucumber on a fine grater and mix it with salt, garlic, and mayonnaise.

Fry the pork in vegetable oil for about 15 minutes on each side until golden brown. Let the meat cool slightly, then rub it with the cucumber-mayonnaise mixture, sprinkle with walnuts, wrap in foil, and place in the oven for 50 minutes.

After that, unwrap the foil and bake the pork for another 10–15 minutes until a crispy golden crust forms.

Before serving, garnish the meat with freshly chopped herbs. This pork delicacy tastes delicious both hot and cold.

Notes:

This baked pork pairs perfectly with almost any side dish: potatoes, rice, bulgur, buckwheat and more.
