Spring is traditionally considered the BBQ season. Outdoor отдых and cooking meat over charcoal is something many people start dreaming about as early as mid-winter. And of course, no kebab or barbecue is truly complete without a flavorful sauce. It adds a special tang and rich, sometimes indescribable taste notes that elevate the entire dish.
Honey lemon sauce made with sunflower oil is one of the most versatile and easy-to-make options. It pairs perfectly with veal, turkey, chicken, pork, and even lamb. If you use cold-pressed raw sunflower oil, the sauce becomes especially aromatic and offers additional health benefits.
Cold-pressed sunflower oil contains essential fatty acids (especially omega-6), as well as vitamins E, A, and D and phytosterols that help reduce «bad» cholesterol levels. Regular consumption can improve skin condition, support vision, and slow down aging processes thanks to its high vitamin E content.
CraftOil offers raw, 100% natural sunflower oil made from eco-friendly raw materials using certified in-house pressing equipment. Their oils do not oxidize in air and do not come into contact with metal. These are «live» oils, ideal not only for cooking but also for wellness and natural health practices.

Ingredients (for 2 servings)
For prepare you will need:
- 5 tbsp sunflower oil;
- 4 tbsp olive oil;
- ½ lemon;
- 1 tbsp honey (liquid or melted);
- ½ tsp salt;
- A pinch of ground black pepper;
Step-by-step instructions
Rinse the lemon under running water, pour boiling water over it, and cut it in half. Set one half aside (it won’t be needed) and squeeze the juice from the other half (by hand or using a citrus juicer).
In a small bowl, combine sunflower oil and olive oil. Add honey, lemon juice, salt, and ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. This allows the sauce to infuse and develop a richer flavor.
Notes:
You can replace olive oil with camelina, corn, or pumpkin seed oil. Using black cumin oil will give the sauce a sharper, more spicy flavor. For marinating meat, try spice blends like «Caucasian BBQ», «BBQ seasoning with coriander and nutmeg», or «Universal meat seasoning».
