Ingredients for Spicy Fried Zucchini with Sesame Flour Breading
For this dish you need:
- 1 zucchini;
- ½ cup sesame powder (sesame flour);
- ½ cup breadcrumbs;
- 1 teaspoon salt;
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper;
- 1 egg;
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for frying);
Step-by-step cooking instructions
Wash the zucchini, cut off the ends, and slice it into not-too-thin rounds or slices. Place the vegetable slices on a cloth or clean kitchen towel and leave for 30 minutes to let the juice drain.
Meanwhile, prepare the breading: mix sesame flour, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper until combined. In a separate bowl, beat the egg. If desired, you can add some of the spices to the egg.
Heat a frying pan over medium heat, then add the vegetable oil. After a few minutes, coat each zucchini slice in the breading mixture on both sides, dip it in the beaten egg, and fry for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden.
Place the ready zucchini on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Serve warm — although fried zucchini with sesame breading is just as tasty when cold.
Notes:
In addition to corn, camelina, or sunflower oil, you can use mustard oil for frying zucchini — it will give them a particularly aromatic and spicy touch. This oil also has a high smoke point and is suitable for various types of heat treatment.
