Seaweed, also known as kelp (laminaria), is considered a true superfood. It is naturally rich in vitamins A, E, C, and D, as well as iodine, an essential mineral that supports healthy thyroid function. Kelp also contains fucoidan and alginates — natural polysaccharides that help bind toxins and heavy metals, supporting their removal from the body.
Marinated kelp can be enjoyed on its own as an appetizer or side dish, but it also makes an excellent base for fresh salads and sandwich spreads. This seaweed salad with eggs is simple, nutritious, and surprisingly delicious — even for people who are not big seafood fans. The addition of Svan salt, a traditional Georgian seasoning, gives this easy salad a unique, aromatic flavor.
Svan salt is more than ordinary table salt. It is a fragrant blend of dried garlic, red pepper, blue fenugreek (utskho suneli), dill seeds, saffron, and other natural spices. This traditional seasoning is valued for its rich taste and is often associated with supporting a balanced diet and healthy metabolism.

Ingredients
For 2 servings you will need:
- 200 g marinated kelp (laminaria);
- 3 eggs (preferably free-range);
- 1½ teaspoons mayonnaise (or plain Greek yogurt mixed with turmeric and mustard);
- 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper (optional);
- 1 slightly less than 1 teaspoon Svan salt;
How to make seaweed salad with eggs
Boil the eggs until hard (about 10–12 minutes after the water reaches a boil). Cool them completely, peel, and cut into cubes or slices. Place the marinated seaweed in a colander for about 20 minutes to drain excess marinade. Transfer it to a mixing bowl. For a softer texture, roughly chop the seaweed before mixing.
Add the chopped eggs, Svan salt, black pepper, and mayonnaise (or the yogurt dressing). Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until evenly combined. Serve immediately. If desired, garnish with finely chopped fresh dill, parsley, or cilantro.
