Modern versions may include natural additions like dried herbs, turmeric, or black pepper.

How to use sesame salt

In Japan, gomasio is often called «healthy salt» because it helps reduce overall sodium intake. It’s a universal seasoning that complements almost any dish.

You can add sesame salt to: salads, soups and stews, meat or fish dishes, lightly salted lard or lean meats.

However, gomasio is not suitable for pickling or hot marinades.
