Ingredients
To prepare this spicy Hungarian chicken fillet for 2 servings, you will need:
- 1 large chicken fillet or 2 small fillets;
- ½ cup dry red wine (you can substitute pomegranate juice if desired);
- 1 teaspoon salt;
- 1 heaped teaspoon CraftOil «Aromatic chicken with ginger and curry» seasoning;
- 2 tablespoons butter;
- 3–4 sprigs of fresh dill, for garnish;
- 100 ml water;
Step-by-step preparation
Thoroughly rinse the chicken fillet under running water, then pat it dry with a paper towel. Make several shallow lengthwise cuts in the meat. Rub the chicken with salt and «Aromatic chicken with ginger and curry» seasoning. Leave it to marinate for 20–25 minutes.
Next, fry the chicken in butter for 5–7 minutes on each side, until it develops an appetizing golden-brown crust.
Transfer the chicken, together with the butter used for frying, to a saucepan, Dutch oven, or another suitable thick-bottomed baking dish. Add the water and red wine (or pomegranate juice).
Place the dish in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) and cook for approximately 1 hour or slightly longer, until the chicken is completely cooked and tender.
Wash and finely chop the dill. Serve the Hungarian-style chicken fillet hot, sprinkled with fresh dill and/or other herbs of your choice.
Notes:
For an especially aromatic and spicy flavor, you can add a pinch of black cumin flour to the salt and seasoning during marination. Butter is not the only option for frying. You can also use vegetable oils such as sesame oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, or mustard oil.
These oils, along with many other natural products, can be found with just a few clicks at the Ukrainian online store CraftOil.
