Chia oil is truly a unique plant-based product. It contains more than 60% unsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in an ideal ratio (3:1) for human absorption. In addition, it is rich in vitamins A and E, which have powerful antioxidant properties, protecting the skin from the harmful effects of free radicals that accelerate aging and increase the risk of skin damage and even cancer.

Chia oil for mask

The oil extracted from chia seeds also contains essential minerals such as calcium, boron, potassium, iron, and magnesium. Each of these plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin and overall well-being. That’s why a cleansing face mask with chia oil not only gently exfoliates dead skin cells but also brightens the complexion, evens skin tone, and smooths fine (expression) lines.

Ingredients for a homemade chia oil cleansing face mask

To make a natural DIY cleansing face mask with chia oil, you’ll need:

  • 1 fresh egg (preferably farm-raised);
  • 1 teaspoon of raw chia oil;

Step-by-step preparation and application

Crack the egg and separate the white from the yolk. In a ceramic or glass bowl, mix the egg white with cold-pressed chia oil.

Stir gently using a wooden or plastic spatula until smooth. Apply the mixture evenly to your face, avoiding the eye area. (Be sure to remove makeup before applying the mask.). Leave on for 15–20 minutes, until the mask dries completely. Rinse off with lukewarm water—without soap, cleanser, or foam.

This natural chia oil face mask can be used 1–2 times per week, alternating with other homemade skincare treatments.

Tips and variations:

To reduce pigmentation spots and freckles, add 2–3 drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice to the mask mixture.

For dry, sensitive, or flaky skin, combine egg white, raw chia oil, and unsweetened yogurt (e.g., Greek yogurt).

If you’re allergic to eggs, replace them with a gel-like flaxseed paste, made by steaming flaxseed flour.

You can find natural flaxseed flour, fresh chia oil and chia seeds in just a few clicks at CraftOil — a Ukrainian online store offering organic oils, seeds, nuts, and tools for home oil pressing and flour making.
