The coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is not just an acute illness \u2014 it\u2019s a severe disease that affects the respiratory system, brain, gastrointestinal tract, and other organs. Scientists from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have found that one of the most effective natural products for restoring health after COVID-19 is black seed (Nigella sativa) and its cold-pressed oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Model studies conducted by the Australian research team revealed that thymoquinone\u2014the key active compound in black seed and its oil <\/a>\u2014 helps the body fight COVID-19 and recover faster. Thymoquinone binds to the virus\u2019s \u00abspikes\u00bb, preventing it from attaching to mucous membranes and causing lung inflammation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, thymoquinone is one of the most powerful immune modulators, stimulating the production of white blood cells and T-killer cells \u2014 the main components of the immune defense system. It is also a strong antioxidant, protecting the body from free radicals that damage cells across multiple systems, including the immune system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Kaniz Fatima Shad from UTS noted that thymoquinone helps block the so-called \u00abcytokine storm\u00bb, which is responsible for many severe post-COVID complications. Laboratory studies on animals also demonstrated that thymoquinone prevents the release of interleukins \u2014 a group of cytokines primarily produced by white blood cells as part of the body\u2019s immune response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, researchers found that thymoquinone inhibits the activity of Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterium that can infect the skin and mucous membranes, leading to conditions such as osteomyelitis, arthritis, bronchitis, sinusitis, and skin abscesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, Novatek Pharmaceuticals conducted studies confirming the effectiveness of black seed against COVID-19 and even developed a pharmaceutical product based on it. However, the human body absorbs natural black seed oil and seeds more efficiently than synthetic medications. These natural products are free from preservatives, stabilizers, and other artificial additives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
