According to the latest report from the National Bank of Ukraine (\u00abInflation Report\u00bb), food prices in Ukraine have increased by 79% compared to 2016. For comparison, in the European Union this figure is nearly twice lower \u2013 46%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sharp gap can be explained by several factors: the COVID-19 pandemic, the war, as well as logistics and energy problems. Another important reason for rising prices in Ukraine is climate change, which has significantly reduced the harvest of grains and oilseeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not only vegetable oils that are becoming more expensive. Prices for dairy products, meat, and vegetables are also going up. Over the past years, imports of dairy and pork into Ukraine have increased 4.4 times, and this year imports of apples are 8 times higher than last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
